Screen Memoir is an evolving moving-image installation and forthcoming film composed of empty cinema auditoriums filmed from the screen's perspective. Reversing the gaze, the work transforms the projection surface into a witness and vacant seats into traces of an absent collective body. Echoing Jacques Derrida's Memoirs of the Blind, it inhabits the paradox that seeing always entails a form of blindness: the image looks back while its spectators remain suspended between presence and disappearance. Presented in a looping installation at MIRAGE, the project is developed in collaboration with FUJIFILM Italia and is being shot in the IMAX format.

Gianmarco Donaggio is a filmmaker, cinematographer and visual artist working across experimental cinema, audiovisual performance and installation. His practice investigates light, motion and perception, treating the moving image as a material and sensory form rather than simply a vehicle for narrative. His work has been presented at international film festivals, museums and contemporary art institutions. He is a member of the European Film Academy and a Berlinale Talents alumnus.
