As a catalysator for opening up and being intimate with each other the smoke sauna. deepens friendships, cleans up old wounds and quarrels. As part of the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List, the smoke sauna is an essential culture for the Voro community of Estonia and a place to meet, in silence, in conversation, a place to laugh or to spill your heart out with your worries, concerns and stories. Winning the directing award at the Sundance Film Festival, Anna Hint has made a truly wonderful debut feature film that makes us laugh, cry and consolidate with our own worries. Through all seasons we follow the rituals and the women heating up together in the darkened smoked-down tiny log cabin.
