Beatrice Gibson’s films are known for their experimental and emotive qualities. Collapsing the boundaries between fiction and documentary, they range from experimental autobiography to nocturnal thriller, casting friends and artistic influences as characters and co-creators.

Gibson is a two-time winner of the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Tiger Award for Short Film, receiving the prize in 2009 and 2013. She was shortlisted for the Jarman Award for artist film in both 2013 and 2019 and received the 17th Baloise Art Prize at Art Basel.

Recent solo exhibitions include Ordet, Milan (2023); Camden Art Centre, London, and Mercer Union, Toronto (2019); and KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin (2018). Her films have screened at festivals including Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes, the New York Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Viennale, Courtisane and Open City Documentary Festival.

Gibson’s Two Sisters Who Are Not Sisters premiered at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight in 2019. Her latest work, Someplace in Your Mouth, co-directed with Nick Gordon, premiered at TIFF in 2024.
