Director John Skoog and cinematographer Ita Zbroniec-Zajt have developed a close creative collaboration across shorts and feature films, building not simply a visual style, but a shared way of looking at the world. Their work together is rooted in an accumulated understanding of place, light and each other’s instincts, and in the trust that develops when two filmmakers continue to challenge and refine their approach over time.

Together, they will discuss the conversations, choices and working methods behind their images: where the director’s vision meets the cinematographer’s, how visual responsibility is shared, how disagreements and discoveries become part of the process, and how a common visual language can evolve through a long-term collaboration.

Their work together includes CPH:DOX winner Ridge, for which Zbroniec-Zajt also received the Sven Nykvist Cinematography Award at Göteborg Film Festival, Redoubt - starring Denis Lavant, and a short film retrospective - all screening at this years MIRAGE.
