Victor Kossakovsky joins MIRAGE for the second time to present his majestic ode to the sea in Trillion.
As one of contemporary documentary cinema’s most acclaimed and formally adventurous filmmakers, his films have received more than 100 international awards. He first gained widespread recognition with The Belovs(1992), winner of both the Joris Ivens Award and the Audience Award at IDFA.
His visually ambitious ¡Vivan las Antípodas! screened at the Venice Film Festival and was nominated for the European Film Award for Best Documentary. Aquarela, an immersive study of water in all its force and beauty, premiered in Venice and was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Filmed largely in Norway, Gunda premiered at the Berlinale in 2020, was shortlisted for an Academy Award and won two Amanda Awards, for cinematography and sound. Kossakovsky returned to Berlin’s main competition with Architecton in 2024, followed by Trillion, which premiered at IDFA in 2025. His latest film, Holy Wood Dust, premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2026.
Across his work, Kossakovsky combines radical visual invention, immersive sound and poetic attention to humans, animals and the elemental world.
